Alonso de Tejeda: Tu es Petrus

The eighth motet of the Liber tertius sacrarum cantionum by Alonso de Tejeda (c. 1540-1628) is a brilliant setting of the text Tu es Petrus (other famous Tu es Petrus motets were composed by Palestrina, Victoria or Byrd). Tejeda only used the first part of the text, omitting the second one, Quodcumque ligaveris.

Tu es Petrus, et super hanc petram
edificabo ecclesiam meam,
et portae inferí non praevalebunt adversus eam,
et tibi dabo claves regni caelorum.

The words edificabo ecclesiam meam remark a clear word painting example: they are depicted with a dialogue between two groups of three voices that symbolize the "construction (edificabo) of the Church".
