Maistre Jhan: Hunc ego te, Euryale

Hunc ego te, Euryale (I-TVd 36, nº 5) takes its text from Virgil’s Aeneid (IX, 481-497). This extraordinary one-part motet could be considered one of the first polyphonic laments: the text deals with the pain of the mother of Euryalus because of the death of her son.
